Qualifying round of 1st LEGO League held at NYU School of Engineering in Downtown Brooklyn

Hundreds of students gathered at Metrotech Center in Downtown Brooklyn today to participate in a robotics competition.

The NYU School of Engineering hosted 400 elementary and middle school students from 35 schools across the borough in what is being called the first LEGO League.

The students spent months creating robots from LEGOs and today marked the qualifying competition to see which team will advance to the next round.

About half of the 35 teams will advance to the next level, which is a regional competition being held in Manhattan this March. From there, the teams will head to the national competition in St. Louis the following month.
