A recent Financial Times article entitled, “Will IT make - or break - the bank?” addresses the issue of how success in today’s fast-paced world of finance relies upon harnessing the power of information technology. No one can explain the critical relationship between finance and technology better than Dr. Roy S. Freedman, Adjunct Professor in the Financial Engineering Program at Polytechnic University. According to the article, Dr. Freedman’s new book "Introduction to Financial Technology,” “wittily combines fiscal history with heavy-duty financial arithmetic.”

A seasoned financial technology veteran, Dr. Freedman offers a comprehensive overview of this dynamic area. With clarity and intelligence, he presents an in-depth treatment of the current state-of-the-art in financial technology, covering topics including auction theory, databases, networked computer clusters, back-office operations, derivative securities, regulation, compliance, risk management, and more.

In addition to teaching courses on financial technology, operational risk, technology management, and quantitative methods at Polytechnic, Dr. Freedman is also President of Inductive Solutions, Inc, a firm he founded in 1989 that provides advisory services and tools for risk management and mathematical modeling. Dr. Freedman received a BS and MS in Mathematics (simultaneously), an MS in Electrical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics, all from Polytechnic University.
