For NYU's School of Engineering, a new funding round goes a long way


The recently renamed NYU Tandon School of Engineering recently received $4.45 million from the state of New York for its Center for Advanced Technology in Telecommunications and Distributed Information Systems (CATT). That funding comes on the heels of a $100 million cash infusion from Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon, which the university is calling "the largest philanthropic gift by a member of the Indian-American community."

Chandrika Tandon is an NYU board member and a former partner at consulting firm McKinsey and Co. Her husband, Ranjan Tandon, is an engineer by training and founder of New York-based hedge fund Libra Advisors.
