NYU brings back baseball program after 40-year hiatus


NYU, which is reviving its baseball program after a 40-year hiatus, announced Monday that it has hired Douglas Kimbler to coach the team.

The program, which was discontinued following the 1974 season and re-emeerged as a club sport in the 1980’s, will compete in the 2014-2015 season.

Kimbler, who is currently serving as head coach at NYU-Poly in its final season, brings a wealth of collegiate and professional baseball experience to NYU. Kimbler also served as head coach at Hartwick College (2004-06) and assistant head coach at Castleton State College (2007-08).
