Internet fraud complaints in New York surged 44% in 2024, with over 3,700 New Yorkers reporting issues like account takeovers. While retail sales remain the top consumer complaint, cybersecurity experts warn that AI tools are making scams more sophisticated. "In general, as we've built better and better security systems, the attackers always look for the weak link, and that's often humans," said Professor Justin Cappos.
