NAIRR ‘Essential’ to maintain US leadership in AI, experts say
At a House Science Committee hearing, experts urged codifying the National Science Foundation's National AI Research Resource (NAIRR) pilot program. Institute Associate Professor Julia Stoyanovich, director of the NYU Center for Responsible AI, testified that "We simply cannot compete against China" without NAIRR, which has awarded 150+ resource grants since January 2024. Subcommittee Chairman Obernolte reintroduced the CREATE AI Act to make NAIRR permanent after it failed in the previous Congress.
