Mottola Reaches 1,000 Point Milestone
Jays Squander 1st Half Lead; Fall to Mount Saint Vincent
BROOKLYN, NY - It took senior Anthony Mottola (Brooklyn, NY) just under four minutes to score his five points he needed to reach the 1,000 point plateau, but that would be the lone highlight of the night as the NYU-Poly men's basketball team fell to 0-3 on the season as they dropped their Skyline opener 96-59 to Mount Saint Vincent.
Mottola and company rolled early as the senior put the Jays up by 8 early when he drove the baseline and scored, while being fouled on the play. That play put Mottola at 1,000 and the foul shot after put him at 1,001. The Jays would increase their lead to 25-11 just under half way through the first half, but MSV would go on a torrent run to close the gap and eventually take the lead with seconds left. The Dolphins went to the lockerroom with a 36-34 lead.
