Midtown High-Rise Under Scrutiny After Buckling Column Discovered During Office-to-Apartment Conversion


Professor Magued Iskander explained that the buckling column in the Midtown high-rise undergoing New York City's largest office-to-apartment conversion was likely caused by an increase or redistribution of load, or a pre-existing defect, and that stabilization will require safely transferring loads to the ground and replacing the compromised columns.
