Men's Cross Country Improves

Places 16th Out of 21 Teams at Lehman College


Bronx, NY -  The NYU-Poly Men's Cross Country team finished in 16th place at the Lightning Invitational hosted by Lehman College at Van Cortland Park on Sunday. The Jays average team time was 35 minutes 59 seconds.  St. Joseph's (LI) won the event with an average time of 28 minutes 53 seconds.

Over 180 runners took part in the event. NYU-Poly was led by sophomore Christian Velasco (Camiling, Phillipines) who completed the 8k course in a time of 32:32.33, good enough for 52nd place. Sophomore Devin Lovell (Cranberry, PA) came in 61st place with a time of 32:51.98.  Rounding out the top three for the Jays was Habeeb Shittu (Brooklyn, NY) who finished 90th with a time of 34:51.87.

The next event for the team will be the NJIT Highlander hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology this Sunday at 10:30am at Branch Brook Park.
