Men's and Women's Basketball Fall to St. Joseph's

Women edged in final seconds, men fall by 12

Brooklyn, NY — It was a big night in Skyline Conference play for the NYU-Poly men's and women's basketball teams Thursday, December 3. But when it ended, unfortunately the Golden Eagles were victorious in both contests as they defeated the Jays 72-60 and the Lady Jays 62-60.

In the men's contest held at NYU-Poly, the Jays trailed by just one point at half time and three times held the lead in the second half, once by three at 47-44. But, the Golden Eagles went on a run, spurred mainly by NYU-Poly's 19 second half fouls and 19 turnovers. The Golden Eagles converted on NYU-Poly's mistakes sinking 9-of-15 free throws in the second half and shot 55% from the field.

NYU-Poly was led by junior Anthony Motolla's (Brooklyn, NY / St. Edmund Prep) 15 points, followed by sophomore  Eddie Ortiz (Brooklyn, NY / Pleasant Valley HS) and junior Jason Buckner (Littleton, CO / Dakota Ridge HS), who each added 11.  St Joseph's was led by Sean Hyde who had a game-high 16 points.
The Jays (1-2, Skyline 0-1) were slightly out-rebounded 31-30, with senior Seon Jack (Brooklyn, NY / South Anoros, Bahamas) leading all players with eight boards. NYU-Poly will travel to Maritime on Tuesday for another Skyline matchup.
