Maritime Cruises Past NYU-Poly

Men's Basketball bounced 76-49


THROGS NECK, NY — The Maritime College men's basketball team jumped out to a 9-0 lead on NYU-Poly and never looked back. The Privateers built up a 42-28 halftime lead and cruised on to the Skyline Conference victory, 76-49. The Jays fall to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the Skyline Conference.

NYU-Poly couldn't stop a four pronged attack from the Privateers as Adedokun Olanrewaju led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while three other Maritime players netted double-figures in points. The Jays were led by Cornelius Angus who scored seven points and seven boards. Anthony Motolla led NYU-Poly in points as he dropped in 12.

For the game the Jays shot just 35% while Maritime finished shooting an impressive 59% from the field. Maritime also racked up 14 points at the charity stripe to the Jays seven. Maritime improves to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline. NYU-Poly will face Division 1 opponent NJIT on December 30 at NJIT.
