Map Shows Built-Up Areas With Most Data Centers
A study by Institute Professor Maurizio Porfiri, postdoctoral researcher Ofek Lauber Bonomo and Industry Assistant Professor Anton Rozhkov found that 97.5% of U.S. data centers are located in cities, not rural areas, and that former coal plant sites are emerging as magnets for new builds, with Washington, Chicago, and Dallas-Fort Worth topping the list of metro areas with the most facilities.
