Manhattanville's experience too much for young Jays

Sophomore Fred Byrne scores lone goal in NYU-Poly loss

Brooklyn, NY -   In its first real test since a season opening loss to Cabrini College, the NYU-Poly Men's Soccer team found out the hard way that it still had some growing up to do. Manhattanville put on an impressive performance downing the Jays 8-1 in their home opener at Aviator Sports Complex. Manhattanville's experience combined with uncharacteristic mistakes led to the first Blue Jay loss in three games

The lone highlight of the night came in the 77th minute when sophomore Fred Byrne (Mantua, NJ / Clearview Regional HS) floated a 30 yard shot over the Valiant goalkeeper, and putting a damper on Manhattanville's attempt at shutting out NYU-Poly. It was Byrne's first collegiate goal.
