On the local competition radar this weekend is the fascinating world of FIRST Robotics at Community Partnership Charter School, which is competing for a $10,000 grant from Time Warner Cable, and Long Island University men’s and women’s basketball programs tipping off against Columbia University.
If you’ve never seen a FIRST Robotics competition, tomorrow at Polytechnic Institute of New York University at Downtown Brooklyn campus there is a practice tournament for local entries from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. With a host of local schools participating in this beneficial program – including P.S. 3, P.S. 11, P.S. 8. P.S. 9. P.S. 58, M.S. 113, P.S. 270, P.S. 321, Benjamin Banneker Academy, and CPCS – the practice at Poly is a wonderful opportunity for local families to see what the FIRST Robotics hype is all about.
