Fighting Blue Jays announce freshman class; kickoff preseason

Brooklyn, NY -  The NYU-POLY men's soccer team opened up it's 2009 preseason on August 20; welcoming back 10 returning players and one of the most talented recruiting classes in the history of the Fighting Blue Jays men's soccer program.  Eleven freshmen from eight states make up the class of 2012.

The Fighting Blue Jays will look to improve on last season's mark of 2-13-4 and a 9th place finish in the Skyline Conference. Head Coach Nate Kalin, who enters his third season, will look to a few key freshmen for an immediate contribution, as the Jays kick off their season at Cabrini College in the Cabrini Kickoff Classic. Alvernia College and Frostburg State College make up the other half of the tournament's opening matches.

Playing a tough non-conference schedule, including matches with Manhattanville and Marywood, NYU-Poly hopes to make its way into unchartered waters: the programs first-ever Skyline Conference playoffs.
