City's tech accelerators are turbo-charging local startups
… The industry around launching startups has exploded, both in the city and nationally. There were more than 100 incubators and accelerators in the five boroughs as of 2017, according to industry trade group Tech: NYC. Some are generalist, such as ERA and Techstars, while most focus on specific industries. The long list includes the Fintech Innovation Lab, Food-X and the New York Fashion Tech Lab. The recently launched Broadway Tech Accelerator targets entrepreneurs creating innovations for live entertainment. Through its Future Labs, the NYU Tandon School of Engineering hosts four business incubators across different tech sectors.
