Is cinema ignoring the climate?

Most films ignore climate change, with nearly 90% failing the "Climate Reality Check" test that measures basic acknowledgment of the crisis, according to researchers. Even subtle references count, like a character mentioning "the hottest summer on record." While disaster films like "Don't Look Up" raise awareness, researchers call for more diverse climate stories. "What we consume as entertainment distracts us from reality and essentially tells us that these problems don't exist," says Clinical Professor Abby Rabinowitz.
