Brooklyn researchers warn AI can be weaponized to plant flaws in computer chips
NYU Tandon researchers led by ECE Department Chair Ramesh Karri found that AI systems like ChatGPT can create undetectable "hardware Trojans," hidden flaws in computer chips capable of leaking data or granting attackers remote access. "AI tools definitely simplify the process of adding these vulnerabilities," said Ph.D. candidate Jason Blocklove, lead author of the study.
