Jays Suffer 7-2 Setback


Brooklyn, NY - The NYU-Poly Women's Tennis squad suffered a 7-2 non-conference loss to Brooklyn College Wednesday night. The Lady Jays now fall to 0-2 overall, while the Lady Bulldogs improve to 2-1.

Brooklyn College swept the doubles matches and won four of the six singles matches en route to the victory.  Sophomore Ariel Zeig (West Nyack, NY) improved to 1-1 on the season at first singles as she won in the third set tie-breaker. The scores were 6-0, 6-7, and 9-7.  Also for NYU-Poly, in sixth singles Yenyu Huang won 6-2, 6-1.  Sophomore Kelly Burbrink was the other bright spot for the Lady Jays as she took her opponent to three sets at fourth singles.  She ended up losing 6-4, 0-6, 5-7.

The Lady Jays have a busy weekend as they host a pair of matches. On Saturday they open Skyline Conference play versus Purchase College at 1:00pm at the College of Staten Island Courts. Then, on Sunday the Lady Jays host Bard College in another Skyline match, also at College of Staten Island, at 2:00pm.
