Professor Haverkamp joined the faculty of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 2022. He holds master's and doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering from RWTH Aachen University, Germany. After his time as lecturer and laboratory manager for aircraft design at the Institute of Aerospace Systems in Aachen, he went to work in industry – first as an engineer in the product development of a car manufacturer, later as an engineering consultant with a record of well over 30 international mechanical engineering-related projects. During his career as an engineer and consultant, he gained experience in various industries, most notably automotive and aerospace as well as industrial plant manufacturing. His focus is on product design and development. Prior to joining NYU Tandon, he taught at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
Classes Professor Haverkamp has taught at NYU include: Senior Design I and II, Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Automotive Engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Laboratories.
