Abstract

This presentation provides an overview of Brookhaven National Laboratory's grid modernization research and capabilities. It highlights ongoing efforts in power system modeling and simulation, renewable integration, cybersecurity, and applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning and quantum computing into the power grid. The presentation also showcases BNL's unique research facilities, including cyber-physical system testbeds and solar research centers, as well as collaborations with utilities, government agencies, universities, and industry partners. Together, these capabilities support the development of innovative technologies to improve the reliability, resilience, security, and sustainability of future electric power systems.

Speaker Bio

Meng Yue is the Lead of the Grid Modernization and Security Group at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he leads multidisciplinary research on power system modeling, grid resilience, cybersecurity, and the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing to modern energy systems. He has over two decades of experience leading federally funded research programs for the U.S. Department of Energy and other agencies.
