Akbar Rafiey Headshot

Akbar Rafiey is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science Engineering at New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering. Before that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at HDSIUCSD, where he worked with Barna Saha and Yusu Wang. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science under the supervision of Andrei Bulatov at SFU. He also completed his master’s degree in the Mathematics Department at SFU, working with Cedric Chauve and Ladislav Stacho. He obtained his BSc in Computer Science from the University of Tehran. In 2022, he interned as an AI Research Scientist at Meta, where he was supervised by Mani Malek and Ilya Mironov. He also completed an internship at NII - Tokyo, Japan, where he was supervised by Yuichi Yoshida.
