Cross-School Registration
Undergraduate and graduate students at the School of Engineering are welcome to pursue coursework in other divisions of New York University.
Undergraduate Students
With the approval of their departmental adviser, undergraduate students may apply credits completed in another division toward their degree plan. The School of Engineering allows students to complete up to four courses in other divisions. Students seeking additional credits beyond the four-course limit must file a petition with the Office of Undergraduate Academics. Exceptions will be made for students pursing approved cross-school minors that require additional coursework.
Courses in other divisions that duplicate the content of a School of Engineering course will not count toward degree completion. For this reason, students must meet with their departmental adviser prior to registering for a course in another division. If a course is not approved, students will not receive credit that course. Independent study or internship courses taken in other divisions of the University do not count toward degree completion. Students are encouraged to consult with departmental advisor regarding the applicability of such courses towards their degree requirements.

Please Note:
- Graduate classes in Computer Science at Courant are not open to MS Tandon students.
- Courses from the School of Professional Studies cannot count toward Tandon graduate degrees.
