Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers

The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) at NYU is a student organization dedicated to supporting academic and professional development in industrial engineering and technology management. As part of the world’s largest professional society for industrial engineers, the club provides students with access to industry insights, technical resources, and a collaborative environment that connects students, faculty, and professionals to solve real world challenges.

Students should join IISE to access industry relevant resources, build strong professional networks, and gain hands on experience beyond the classroom. Through workshops, case studies, and direct engagement with alumni and professionals, members develop skills in problem solving, leadership, and career readiness while exploring opportunities in consulting, operations, and technology driven roles.

IISE recently hosted “Beyond the Classroom: An IE Case Study Dinner,” where students worked in small groups alongside industry professionals and alumni to solve real world AI challenges. The event provided a structured, hands on experience where participants explored practical problem solving, shared tradeoffs, and gained insight into how AI is applied in industrial engineering today.
