Design for America
Club Description
Design for America at NYU is founded on our passion and belief that we can use human-centered design to tackle local social issues to develop solutions that have an impact locally and globally. As a DFA Studio, we are part of a movement, which tackles America’s most daunting issues using our abilities at the local level. DFA NYU is a powerful platform to connect students from different schools and develop a community of socially mindful change makers. They provide opportunities for students to go outside of the classroom and put their learning into action through social innovation and entrepreneurship.
Why Students Should Join
Joining DFA NYU means becoming part of something bigger than any one class or campus project. Here's why it's worth it:
- Make Real Impact – Apply what you learn to real social problems through projects that impact local communities and beyond.
- Find Your People – Connect with students across NYU who are just as driven and socially conscious as you are. The friendships and network you build here last way beyond graduation.
- Actually Have Fun – From hands-on craft nights to design events and industry speakers, there's always something happening that feeds both your career and your creativity.
- Build Your Portfolio – You'll graduate with hands-on experience in human-centered design, social innovation, and real project work — stuff that stands out on any resume, in any field.
Highlights
DFA NYU recently attended the 2026 East Coast Meetup at Yale University alongside DFA studios from MIT, Columbia, Brown, Fordham, and more. From bagel socials to tours, foundation talks, and networking sessions — it was a weekend full of collaboration, connection, and inspiration with some of the most driven design thinkers on the East Coast.
