Global Challenge: Data Science/AI/Robotics and Health

In this world, some comfortably live without struggle, and some are less privileged and are more in need of guidance and support. A true global leader should remember the ones who trail behind the team and use their knowledge and power to ensure no one in the team is left behind."

Bio:

I am a junior majoring in Biomolecular Science and minoring in Mathematics. Coming to New York has been an enlightening journey, an experience that has not only expanded my intellectual horizons but has also woven the fabric of resilience and adaptability into my being.

Born in Ürümqi, China, and raised in both Ürümqi and Madrid, my upbringing endowed me with a unique perspective, a fusion of influences that has greatly enriched my worldview, while developing a profound interest in the intricacies of the human body and life at a molecular level.

Currently, I work as a peer subject tutor for biology and chemistry at the NYU peer tutoring center (PTC), where I find joy in helping fellow students with subjects I once struggled with. This role not only allows me to share my passion for the sciences but also reinforces my belief in the transformative power of collaborative learning and teaching. In addition to that, I work as a research assistant at the Saurabh Lab, where I am involved in projects that center on chemical biology and high-resolution microscopy. Here, I am developing expertise in molecular tracking. Using software and tools such as TrackPy and ImageJ, I track individual molecules within live cells to observe their movements and interactions. This technique has the potential to reveal how biomolecules operate. I also volunteer at New York Presbyterian Hospital weekly, where I find fulfillment in contributing to the well-being of others and gaining valuable insights into professions I am interested in.

Outside the classroom and workspace, you can find me weightlifting, playing Shostakovich, Brahms, or folk music on the piano at 5 Metrotech Center, hitting the basketball court, biking across the Manhattan bridge, and traveling!
