The summer challenges are only open to incoming students. Expect a series of grand challenges in the Fall for all students!
What is expected as a submission for each challenge?
You are expected to describe the concept for the solution in detail, but not to develop a prototype or have a working demonstration. Throughout the program, we host a series of workshops and office hours to help you craft your solution proposals. No need to stress!
What level of experience is necessary for the challenge?
You already have all the experience you need for this! Use your imagination but make sure that whatever you have a concept for can be made in the real world using available components. Do your research if you are unsure of the possibility of a solution you develop.
Can I compete as an individual?
The minimum team size is two people. We’ll have three icebreaker events, one team hunt event to help you find a teammate, but also use other channels such as facebook groups, WhatsApp groups, or others.
Can I join the challenge after the initial start date?
Yes, of course. We will provide you with a list of projects and you can reach out to the team members for that project.
Do I get all the prize money right away?
A portion of the prize will be given to the teams upon award and the remainder held in the teams’ name and awarded in trenches upon the completion of certain development milestones, such as the creation of the first prototype.
Can I take part in more than one team?
You may participate in more than one team in the early stage of the challenge. But you could only take part in ONE Project Proposal.
How will we communicate with our team?>
You will be assigned a teaching assistant (a current NYU student) who will help oversee the initial communication between the team members, but you and your team members are responsible for communicating throughout the process beyond that.
