Climate resilience in the age of AI
Climate tech is evolving at a rapid pace. New tools coming online can help communities better assess climate risk and provide insights that help mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. They can also help public agencies and private sector organizations reduce costs and improve outcomes. But new technology can bring new risks. AI and other advanced technology platforms come with concerns around privacy, social equity, energy usage—and whether they’ll actually deliver as promised.
This Climate Week NYC event, co-sponsored by ICF, NYU’s Urban Systems Lab, and NYU's Tandon Center for Urban Science + Progress, will highlight emerging approaches already being applied in practice: FloodNet, a network of hyperlocal flood sensors in NYC; ClimateIQ, an AI-powered climate risk platform supporting under-resourced cities; and ICF and Fathom’s next-generation flood maps for the Washington DC metro area. The panel will explore how emerging technologies can advance resilience at scale through trust, community knowledge, and public-private collaboration. A reception with light refreshments and networking will follow.
This session is ideal for public agencies, private sector entities and NGOs working on public sector resilience, and NYU academics and students.
