The series highlights the impact these partners are making and inspires students to think creatively about their career paths. In this session, we'll hear from Joe Shuttleworth about how digital technology can help scale critical sustainability solutions.

 

About the Speaker

As a Digital Water Consultant and trained Water Engineer, Joe Shuttleworth focuses on developing Arup’s digital service offerings for the Water sector.

He is passionate about the role technology plays in shaping sustainable and resilient environments. With a digital-first approach he aims to address critical issues relating to resilience, flood risk, water supply and wastewater treatment. He works nationally and internationally with water utilities, environment management authorities and governments to realise the potential for digital to tackle these.

Recent work with Dwr Cymru Welsh Water includes exploring the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to embed nature-based solutions at scale. In addition, working with the Environment Agency, he has been involved in developing community-centred design of green infrastructure.

He also has a keen interest in developing regenerative design approaches that support the shift towards resilient urban futures, through the use of technology and innovation.
