Membership Mission
The NYC Media Lab connects its Members to research and academia for real time challenges within the ever growing sector that falls within the broad term: Media. It is the Lab’s mission to amplify media innovation, create a pathway for companies and academia to collaborate; while at the same time ensuring that all of these technologies are available to as diverse a community as possible. Now more than ever, the NYC community needs resourceful connectivity to phenomenal talent and cutting edge technologies. It is imperative that these innovations are used to create a more transparent, educated and equitable world and Media is the key to ensure that truth always prevails.
Student Membership
Current students are encouraged to join for a free yearly commitment. Collaborate with, and receive introductions to NYC corporate professionals, researchers, and experts in emerging media technologies. In addition, the possibility for participation in the implementation of Members' projects on topics such as AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Blockchain, AR/VR, and the Metaverse.

Online Membership Login Portal - Access to an online (password-protected) platform with unique opportunities for our students and corporate Members. A hivemind of resources, resumes, mentorship, employment opportunities, events, and ways to build community.
- Projects - Participation in corporate Members' projects or challenges. Help solve an industry problem, provide in-depth research, or prototype a new idea with leading tech and innovation within the field. Eligibility for stipends.
Corporate Membership
Industry partners are encouraged to join for an annual fee at a three-year commitment. Connect with like-minded media and technology companies. Collaborate with NYU Tandon and other New York City university students to drive a project or challenge of your choice, driving innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent development.

Projects - We streamline our Members' exploratory questions and experimental goals by seeding their ideas. Beginning with the construction of an in-depth research brief, we help to create, validate, and prototype a new idea, problem, or product from ideation to execution with NYU Tandon Engineering Faculty, Students, and resources.

HR Recruitment Support -Tap into one of the City’s most valuable assets—its diverse and talented body of students. Members receive preferential student recruitment opportunities to join for project buildout, intern support, or as full-time employment.

Working Groups - Private and confidential industry and academic led conversation on current media + technology innovation, ideas, and quandaries. A quarterly session for our members and a few select others from the NYCML network. A deep dive into curated topics, plus a chance for members to learn, ask, and network.

Programming -Ranging from roundtable discussions on specific topics, to panels, keynotes, lunch & learns, fireside chats, and our confidential quarterly Working Group, an industry and academic led conversation on current media + technology innovation, ideas, and quandaries - plus a chance for members to learn, ask, and network.

Corporate Events - Access and participation to the Media Labs facilitation of several conferences, networking events, and industry newsletters to highlight you, plus the latest trends in media innovation. The Lab’s Annual Summit, held each October, includes 100+ interactive demonstrations of new prototypes and startups, keynotes, technical presentations, and hands-on workshops from leaders in emerging technology.
