What’s in your TikTok feed? As elections near, it may depend on gender

A Washington Post analysis of TikTok viewing histories revealed a significant gender gap in political content, with women seeing more Harris-related content and men receiving more Trump content. In data from Cybersecurity for Democracy, a multi-university research project housed at the NYU Center for Cybersecurity, men were 12.5% more likely to see Trump videos. "How much of this is driven by the algorithms and how much is driven by the content that people want? This is one of those big questions," said Professor Damon McCoy, the project's co-director.
