NYU Tandon master’s program in financial engineering earns top marks yet again

NYU Tandon’s master’s program in financial engineering — the second such initiative in the country and the first to be certified by the International Association of Financial Engineers — introduces students to sophisticated technologies and modeling techniques that allow them to navigate complex (and ever-evolving) financial and global systems. The program was launched in 1995, and since QuantNet, the country’s premier platform for financial professionals, began ranking academic programs in 2011, the school has landed solidly near the top.

Under new chair Nizar Touzi, who arrived in Brooklyn last year, and master’s program director and department vice chair Barry Blecherman, the Department of Finance and Risk Engineering is continuing its dominance. When the platform released its latest ranking in November 2024, NYU Tandon’s master’s program had leapt two spots and was highlighted at number nine, according to the standards set by QuantNet’s respected arbiters, including class size and employment rates upon graduation.

Our performance can be attributed to the skill and dedication of our faculty, who are among the foremost researchers and industry practitioners in the world. Thanks to them, we attract highly talented students capable of shaping the future of our profession. The QuantNet ranking is a testament to the hard work of everyone in our department.”
