NYC has ironed out details for the nation’s first-of-its-kind law regulating hiring tools powered by AI. Julia Stoyanovich, institute associate professor and director of the Center for Responsible AI, commented on the lack of rigor in the audit process for the new law, and how this may lead to “fairwashing,” giving the rubber stamp of approval to “nonsensical” hiring programs that are little better than a random choice.
