Security, open source, and hands-on learning with Justin Cappos
Professor Justin Cappos discussed his teaching philosophy and security projects in a TCHRA Unplugged interview. He said he makes learning engaging through hands-on security challenges like lock-picking and developed five Linux Foundation projects, including the TUF project that improves software update security. Cappos emphasized community collaboration: "A big part of that is [with]...more voices and more different perspectives, sometimes you can really attack problems from directions that you weren't really thinking about. So diversity is super important."
