How self-driving tech can guide blind people

Funded through C2SMART, researchers from NYU and Woven Planet Holdings, including NYU Tandon’s Chen Feng and John-Ross Rizzo, are working towards helping blind and visually impaired pedestrians walk along sidewalks and guide them through crowded urban environment. “You have a lot of things that can throw off the AI. People using different assistive devices, it can make a lot of these classic models fail and becomes very difficult. But when we talk about inclusive design, it's paramount that we include this,” said Rizzo.
