Systems Engineering Intern @ Northrop Grumman
Tell us in a few words what the summer job/internship consisted of?
I was a part of a company-sponsored research and development project. I worked on fixtures and impact protection for a payload that was sent ~100,000ft into the atmosphere. I was in charge of my project from beginning to end, designing, prototyping, and testing, and worked with a team to integrate electronics into the payload as well.
What was your favorite part?
I was given a chance to work with people of various technical backgrounds and learned a lot from them. I also had a sense of ownership of the project and had the freedom to design according to given parameters. I had weekly design reviews to assess my project and receive advice as well. It was an amazing experience for me and I have pictures of a 3D printed baby Yoda on our payload "flying" through space!
