Professor, Essayist, and Mentor — Wendell Thomas has begun to carve his cultural stake in the exciting, innovating land of Tandon at NYU. He has taught composition and literature for several years, and continues to inspire the students in which he encounters. For Thomas, the flame he lit when he taught his first composition course, continues to burn as he assimilates with our ever-changing society. As academic climates change, Thomas becomes more in-tuned with the dominant, delicate conversation of diversity in STEM and the role of the Black and Latino male student. He effortlessly gives his time working with marginalized Black and Latino male students—showing them that their voices are valid and that the marks they will make in this world will be perfect successes. It is with a sheer delight that to have a critical-thinker, socially aware, and action-oriented voice like Wendell Thomas.
