Richard Cocchiara

Rich Cocchiara is the former Chief Data and Information Security Officer for the New York City Department of Education, where he and his team have developed a new cybersecurity roadmap that emphasizes prevention, detection and quick response to cyber incidents. Formerly, he was CTO for Smarter Risk Corporation, IBM Distinguished Engineer for Business Resilience, CTO for IBM Resiliency Service, and was a leadership member of the IBM Academy of Technology. While at IBM, he pioneered the Business Resilience approach and is personally responsible for the development of IBM’s Business Resilience framework. Cocchiara has over 35 years of IT consulting, development & support experience and has performed IT risk consulting engagements to Fortune 500 companies around the world.
