Abstract
In recent decades, climate change has intensified heat extremes, exacerbating urban overheating challenges and disparities. Nature-based solutions (NBS) are gaining policy focus for integrated urban strategies. In this project, students will develop a transformative approach towards resilient and inclusive urban development in New York City. Initially, the city’s current green infrastructure will be assessed using satellite-based observations. By further integrating spatial demographic data, areas of high priority will be detected. Next, the development of a decision support tool will facilitate the identification of optimal NBS solutions, which will finally be evaluated through urban climate simulations.
