Abstract
What gets measured gets done; how NYC organizes our data informs how we organize and prioritize services within our neighborhoods. Jane Jacobs wrote about the "fragmentation" of city services at the neighborhood level over 50 years ago, and the need for more effective and responsive services at the hyper-local level remains. We will focus first on identifying possible data from multiple sources — government, the private sector, NGOs, residents, NYU — and then accessing, augmenting, integrating and presenting it at the neighborhood level. The goal will be to empower neighborhood residents and place-centered non profits as they work with city agencies to deliver services in a more integrated and effective way.
