Augmenting and Accessing Neighborhood Data to Enhance Neighborhood Services

Abstract

What gets measured gets done; how NYC organizes our data informs how we organize and prioritize services within our neighborhoods. Jane Jacobs wrote about the "fragmentation" of city services at the neighborhood level over 50 years ago, and the need for more effective and responsive services at the hyper-local level remains. This project will focus on recommendations for integrating, augmenting and accessing data at the neighborhood level from multiple sources — government, the private sector, NGOs, residents, etc. — with the goal of empowering neighborhood residents and NGOs and enabling city agencies to deliver services in a more integrated and effective way.
