Abstract
New York City has a “moonshot” goal to build 500,000 new homes over the next decade. Where should those homes be located?
This project seeks to develop a speculative digital model of where future residential development should be concentrated, based not on land value or availability but rather on each neighborhood's infrastructural capacity to add housing. Of particular interest is what neighborhoods have the capacity to add significant housing from a transit access and service perspective. This project seeks to develop a synthesis of the city’s planning policies, recommendations for infrastructural improvements, and guideposts for equitable density increases.
