Sustainable Cityscape
Mapping Tomorrow's Urban Microgrids
- Anton Rozhkov, Ph.D., Industry Assistant Professor, Center for Urban Science + Progress
Abstract
Since the energy field is going through significant transformations, this project focuses on urban energy sustainability and resilience by leveraging spatial modeling and data analysis techniques to identify optimal locations and subsequent policies for implementing renewable-powered microgrids. By harnessing major datasets and applying analytical methods, we will pinpoint areas with high renewable energy potential, favorable infrastructure and built environment, and community needs. The project integrates multiple modeling techniques, such as geographical information systems (GIS), machine learning, and others, to provide actionable insights for stakeholders. Through this framework, we search for a way to achieve environmental resilience in cities.
