Urban Future Lab Announces Energy and Tech Competition


The Urban Future Lab, an energy and tech 'incubator' that operates in partnership with the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, announced a competition Tuesday for startup companies to develop ideas in smart grid technology and city infrastructure. The competition, announced as part of New York Energy Week, will award $25,000 in prizes. The smart grid category revolves around renewable energy, grid modernization and microgrids. The 'smart cities' category revolves around urban infrastructure and resiliency, transportation and transit, sensor networks and analytics. The winner in each category will also get a space at the Urban Future Lab, which helps startups develop and connect with similar companies, funding and energy industry leaders.
