Tandon’s concrete canoe team has a solid finish at the nationals

The annual American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Concrete Canoe Competition calls upon students to design, build, and race a boat constructed from a material most laypeople assume will never float. This year marked the Tandon team’s fourth consecutive regional win, setting a new school record.

With that regional victory in April firmly in their oarlocks, the team went full speed ahead into the nationals, held in June at the Florida Institute of Technology. There, in competition with dozens of other school teams from across the country, they posted top-ten finishes in the important categories of technical paper (a detailed record of their design and building process) and finished product (the canoe itself).

The entire Tandon community congratulates them for their successes this year and wishes them luck as they make plans for the 2020 competition.
