Students to attend 10-day inauguration seminar

Three Polytechnic Institute of NYU students will spend their winter break living history. Irfaan Ally and Dennis John, both seniors majoring in mechanical engineering, and Eugene Pevzner, a sophomore computer science major, were selected to represent NYU-Poly at The Presidential Inauguration seminar coordinated by The Washington Center.

The 10-day academic seminar, which will culminate with the swearing in of the 44th President of the United States on January 20, will, according to organizers, “provide [students with] a backstage view [of] the Presidential Inauguration and focus on the newly elected president and the formation of a new executive administration and the role of the media.”

Participants will attend lectures, site visits, tours, and special events that will allow them to “delve into the critical issues and events that surround the transfer of power and the political processes involved.”

Dr. Michael Hutmaker, Dean of Student Affairs, and Professor Myles Jackson, Dibner Family Professor of History of Science and Technology, coordinated this historic opportunity.
