Student- designed game helps us explore break-up dread


An NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering student made a game about the five stages of a breakup, and it hits pretty close to home. If I have to briefly describe playing the game, I would compare it to listening a Sam Smith song (but with a happy ending).

Five Stages is a game about how the five stages of grief after a breakup can affect the way the world feels.

NYU Poly engineering student Catt Small and her friends, Chris Algoo and Asia Hoe, were inspired to create the game after a conversation about their past experiences with breakups. Small told NYU Local, “We were surprised by how similarly we felt after our past relationships ended and wanted to make something that would let others know how that their experience was normal.”
