Street to Alley: Tech lures corporate refugees


Since the start of the recession, many former finance and corporate types have traveled the path from Wall Street professional to Silicon Alley entrepreneur. Some were laid off or fled the Street, turned off by the drudgery of their work or the intense focus on making money. Others were lured by a resurgent Silicon Alley and the opportunity to be their own boss.Micah Kotch, interim director of incubator initiatives for the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and director of its ACRE incubator, estimates that as many as a third of the inhabitants of the Varick Street shop are former Wall Streeters.
