Statement from Craig Matthews, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Polytechnic University Regarding the Merger Vote

Polytechnic University’s Board of Trustees agreed today that they will reconvene in 30 days to conduct a formal vote on the Definitive Agreement to merge with New York University.

This 30-day period will allow the trustees to meet a request for further review received Wednesday by New York State Senator Kenneth LaValle, Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education.

The Board of Trustees passed a “sense of the board” resolution today and affirmed their support of the merger by a super majority margin in excess of 75 percent. The Polytechnic University Board of Trustees also met in executive session today with the Polytechnic University faculty leadership, who affirmed their strong support of the merger.
