RF industry icons: Prof. Ted Rappaport, the father of mmWave 5G technology

In this podcast, Ted Rappaport, founding director of NYU Wireless, professor of electrical engineering, and recent inductee into the Wireless Hall of Fame, speaks about his journey from ham radio fan to wireless technology innovator.

Reflecting on his research, focused on exploring the current realities and future potential of the mmWave and THz spectra for telecommunications, Rappaport foresees a future where small cell technology and the use of new radio spectra will not only be possible, but common, ushering forth the next generations of wireless.

Said Rappaport, "Research breakthroughs happen at the boundaries of different disciplines… I’ve always been a big believer that wherever you work, whatever you’re going to do, it’s always more fun to involve other people and to be collaborative.”
