Research Scientist Mamo Earns Water Resources Diplomate Certification

Thewodros G. Mamo, a research scientist in the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering Department of Civil and Urban Engineering, has earned his diplomate certification in water resources engineering from the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers, a subsidiary of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Diplomate is the highest post-license certification in the water resources engineering profession, and is accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards.

At the School of Engineering, his research focuses on using pattern recognition to detect and classify water main leaks and on developing innovative applications of municipal water supply databases for urban infrastructure asset management.

Mamo is a registered professional civil engineer in New York and California, with experience in water resource engineering. He has worked in the design and modeling of major drainage infrastructure including surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis, flood risk assessment and analysis, water and wastewater improvement design and capacity analysis.       

Mamo earned his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Monash University in Australia, a master of science degree in environmental and civil engineering from National University in San Diego, and his doctorate in civil engineering from the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering.
